Curriculum IntenT

The study of History is critical for our students to ground their understanding of the present in a deep appreciation of the past. In their search for personal meaning they should be enabled to put things in perspective and evaluate their lives and the lives of others, so they can come to recognise God’s calling and purpose.

  • our History curriculum intends to ensure that, by their investigation into the past, all students are able to learn about who they are as individuals and their place within their community

  • the History curriculum will allow students to recognise the gifts of God within them and search for excellence

Our curriculum is based on the following aims:

  • that all students ground their understanding of the present in a deep appreciation of the past.  In their search for personal meaning they should be enabled to put things in perspective and evaluate their lives and the lives of others, so they can come to recognise God’s calling and purpose

  • that all students develop our students as responsible citizens through an appreciation of the diversity of the local, national and international communities in which we live

  • that all students learn from the experiences of others, especially the injustice of discrimination and racism, reinforcing our belief in the equality of God’s human family

  • that all students develop skills of enquiry and independent thought to have the courage of their convictions and to value the opinions of others

  • that all students question and challenge the moral and political dilemmas that societies have faced both past and present, to grow up as reflective and thoughtful adult members of society
